Hebrew as a Modern Foreign Language
Learning an alternative language at a young age promotes the development of the brain and offers children fantastic opportunities for language acquisition as they grow. At Alma Primary we teach Ivrit, modern Hebrew, as a contemporary, living language.
In Reception we use Chalav u'Dvash, an early years programme that introduces children to everyday oral Hebrew, engaging their senses and using a range of songs and games to bring the language to life in the classroom.
We start to introduce reading and writing once children have a good grasp of the oral language, using Tal Am, an Ivrit language programme developed in North America.
