Here We Are
What a Wonderful World!
For the first two weeks of this year, our whole school community have been focusing on the same text. This is ‘Here We Are’ by Oliver Jeffers. It is a beautifully illustrated book written for the birth of the author’s child. We are using this as inspiration for PSHE, mental health and wellbeing, English and art lessons across the school.
As part of their considerations of 'Here We Are,' Year 4 watched an excerpt from a David Attenborough documentary. The children watched the excerpt without sound and, then again, with. They noted the difference and remarked how music can change their emotions. In this case, Louis Armstrong's 'What a Wonderful World' made the excerpt more dramatic and powerful. The children then created their own versions of the song with some great results!
