Inclusion & SEN
Inclusion is at the centre of our schools aims and values. This page of our website gives parents and carers information about Special Educational Needs and Disabilities at Alma, along with our school offer.
At Alma Primary we welcome all children, including those who have different cognitive profiles and may be identified as having Special Educational Needs or disabilities (SEND). We have high expectations for our children and will work to enable all children make progress in their academic, as well as social and emotional development.
We believe that inclusion is successful when attitudes are welcoming, positive and empathetic, as well as when there is sufficient and appropriate support for the child, the parents and the school, ensuring the establishment of good links. Our priority is to ensure that every child with special educational needs has access to the right support and to this end we work hard to maintain links with parents and health, social care and education professionals.
The 2014 SEN Code of Practice (CoP) requires schools and local authority to explain the support they offer for children and young people with special educational needs (SEN) or disabilities.
